INTRODUCTION
INSPIRE develops open training units to help organisational change process.
Change Catalysts play a key role in promoting inclusive gender equality within INSPIRE. They include both Community of Practice (CoP) facilitators and experts from the four Knowledge & Support Hubs (KSH1–KSH4). The Open Training Unit (OTU) equips them with the knowledge, tools, and resources needed to effectively fulfil these roles.
The GEAM is a survey tool designed to help organizations gather reliable data on gender and intersectional inequalities among staff and students. It provides insights into perceptions and experiences, can be customized, and is available in multiple languages. Since its launch in 2020, over 50 universities and research centers across Europe have used it, generating more than 10,000 responses. GEAM supports the collection of high-quality, comparable data to promote dialogue and learning within and between organizations.
This unit aims to provide an introduction into the basics of data monitoring, from exploring the various definitions of data and why inclusivity in data practices is crucial, to looking at the different methods to assess progress in gender equality (linking these to Gender Equality Plans) and explaining how to develop inclusive indicators for data monitoring.
This Open Training Unit builds on a workshop held on 22 May by Notus Social Research, the Open University of Catalonia, and the Jagiellonian University under Task 3.5 of the Horizon Europe project INSPIRE. The workshop covered two main topics: statistical analysis for inclusive gender equality and practical guidance on analyzing GEAM data. It also marked the official launch of the online Handbook on Statistical Analysis for Inclusive Gender Equality, edited by Jörg Müller, Dalia Argudo, Ewa Krzaklewska, and Paulina Sekuła.
This Open Training Unit aims to support the goals of GENDERACTIONplus, a project that builds on Horizon 2020’s GENDERACTION initiative. Its purpose is to strengthen coordination on gender equality and inclusiveness within the new European Research Area (ERA) by developing two Communities of Practice — one for National Authorities (Policy CoP) and one for Research Funding Organisations (Funding CoP). The unit highlights how GENDERACTIONplus advanced strategic policy advice, stakeholder engagement, and capacity building to promote gender equality and mainstreaming in research and innovation, particularly in countries with less developed policies.
The goal of this Open Training Unit is to showcase and build upon the “Let’s Talk, Let’s Act: Addressing Discrimination in Danish Higher Education” webinar series, developed under the EU GENDERACTIONplus project by the Gender & Equality Team at the University of Southern Denmark. The series explores key dimensions of discrimination in Danish higher education through five thematic webinars inspired by the #MeToo movement and recent research on sexism and discrimination.
This OTU aims to promote intersectional, inclusive, and norm-critical equality work by providing tools, frameworks, and recommendations for combating various forms of discrimination —such as racism, sexism, queerphobia, transphobia, and ableism— while fostering solidarity and allyship across identity lines. By integrating insights and outputs from the webinar series, the OTU supports INSPIRE’s broader mission to strengthen intersectional, decolonial feminist approaches and inclusive gender equality practices in academia and policy across Europe.
The purpose of this Open Training Unit is to explore and address resistance, backlash, and anti-gender campaigns affecting feminist work and organizing. Featuring the Horizon Europe projects FIERCE and RESIST, the OTU highlights cutting-edge research and strategies that analyze these challenges from an intersectional feminist perspective.
It aims to deepen understanding of how anti-gender movements operate transnationally and how they impact diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts—both institutionally and personally. By showcasing expert discussions and resources from the featured projects, this OTU seeks to equip practitioners, researchers, and activists with knowledge and strategies to counter backlash, strengthen feminist collaboration, and sustain intersectional change across organizations and national contexts.
GenPORT
GenPORT is an online community of practitioners, policymakers, researchers, organisations and individuals working across the globe for gender equality and excellence in science, technology and innovation. The portal aims to facilitate the exchange of experiences, to provide access to valuable online resources, to foster collaboration among the community members, and so to support continuing policy and practical interventions in pursuit of gender equality. GenPORT will continue to serve as central portal for gender and science resources for the INSPIRE continuity.
