Implementing GEPs

For the second episode of the INSPIRE Unplugged Dialogues, we sat down with Maria Olivella Quintana, Equality Unit Director at the Open University of Catalonia in Barcelona, Spain. She talks about the experience of implementing a Gender Equality Plan at her institution and how the university shifted towards a broader Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) approach. She highlights the importance of strong institutional commitment, participatory planning, clear governance, monitoring and evaluation, as well as the need for adequate resources to make organisational change effective. The conversation also explores why an intersectional approach is essential to address the different and overlapping forms of inequality that can otherwise remain invisible.
