On 18 February 2025, an online training session on “How to Set Up an Inclusive Gender Equality Plan (IGEP)” brought together professionals committed to advancing gender equality within their organisations. The three-hour session provided participants with both conceptual understanding and practical guidance on designing and implementing Inclusive Gender Equality Plans.

The training began by introducing the concept of IGEPs, outlining their definition, importance, and the core values that underpin inclusive approaches to gender equality. Participants explored how IGEPs go beyond formal compliance, emphasizing structural change, inclusivity, and long-term institutional commitment.

A central part of the session focused on the strategic process of developing an IGEP. This included guidance on building a strong foundation through context-specific analysis, understanding key concepts, and identifying institutional support. Participants were then guided through the process of introducing change, including how to design effective and context-sensitive IGEPs tailored to their organisations.

The training also highlighted practical tools and success factors for implementation. Participants engaged with examples of common barriers—such as organisational resistance or limited resources—and discussed strategies to address them. Emphasis was placed on actionable solutions, including the use of toolkits, templates, and structured approaches to ensure sustainable impact.

Beyond knowledge sharing, the session created space for exchange and networking among participants from diverse professional backgrounds, including HR specialists, equality officers, and organisational leaders. This exchange of experiences enriched the discussion and highlighted shared challenges and opportunities in advancing gender equality.

Overall, the training provided a comprehensive introduction to IGEPs, equipping participants with the skills, tools, and confidence to initiate or strengthen gender equality efforts in their institutions. The session reinforced the importance of collaborative learning, strategic planning, and practical action in fostering inclusive organisational change.
